Pedal Board Collection Last viewed: 49 minutes ago

When I converted my Tama 18" a number of years back, I drilled two extra, (small) holes to position another matching leg mount so that I was able to use the original floor tom legs to support the drum on the horizontal. I also added a front hoop anchor to help prevent sliding. Worked great, but were I to do it again, as I plan for the Pearl, I'm going to try for an alternate solution, fashioning spurs that will fit into the original leg mounts, in original position. If there's one thing that I've learned from this forum, (actually, there are many) is that drilling is bad, m'kay. I certainly don't mean to tell you your business, but I've heard many a sorry tale of nice vintage shells that have been drastically devalued by having 'extra holes' drilled into them, I'm sure you've come across ebay ads proclaiming; 'no extra holes' as a selling feature. If the shell has already been defiled, or if it has no potential collector value, (and consider this carefully, for who knows what will be collectible in a few years...?) then drill away - I've even cut 1" plugs from one shell to fill in holes in another, though it was an old, de-wrapped stencil of no real value, but the plugs worked like a charm, though plugged drums are still not 'original'. Your Rogers looks like a cool conversion, and probably sounds great as well, but round these parts, it might not get the appreciation for your creativity that you might expect. Just my :2Cents:. Welcome.... just be cautious of those 5 letter words :D. Cool pedal boards as well.

Thanks man,

Yeah I totally understand where your coming from It probally wasn't the best idea to drill the shell but when I got the drum, This paticular Rogers shell had no badges or tags and the paint was non original also the slingerland hardware was already on there so the collector and resale value was already significantly decreased. I just did the project for fun and had a great time making it and and a even better time playing it. That little drum was low and punchy for a 16" hahaha =) Nice Tama's too!

Kooky! In my book then, you probably did the right thing. Bottom line, (bottom end :D) a good quality drum should be played. What're you surrounding that baby with?
