Hi guys, looooong time...
I have been out of commission regarding drums for some years now. We are getting ready to move (long term project), and I am going through all the stuff I've hoarded for the last 30+ years. I'll be unloading a ton of misc drum gear.
So I came across a rare pristine orphan inside a fiber case inside another orphan shell on the shelf and remembered what it was as soon as I saw the case.
I bought a Rogers Pink strata kit locally years ago which I ended up re-selling. The guy I bought it from had a very interesting story. He toured with some of the big Motown acts way back in the day. Well he got this kit for home only, the thing was really immaculate... was a 3 piece, pretty sure it was 20/16/12, or maybe 14" FT.
So after he bought that kit he decided he wanted an alternate 13" rack tom. At that point Rogers was in Fullerton. He custom ordered this drum and never used it because the wrap color was different than the original set. The wrap was from a different production run.
So this thing is a time capsule specimen. There is a tiny bit of marks on the top head, but it doesn't really even look played.
Alright, unique piece and true orphan, and unlikely it would ever find an actual related family to match.
What do you all think is a high/low/reasonable value for this oddity? (apologies for the dark pics, kind of late in the day for taking photos)
