Pioneer converted to Jazzfest? Last viewed: 7 hours ago

Has anyone on here ever converted a Ludwig Pioneer snare to a Jazzfest? I hear tell it was exactly the same 3 ply shell. Here's one on eBay that sold for about one-tenth of the price for the real McCoy Ringo Jazzfest.

Currently working on a 7 piece virgin double bass 3 ply early 70's Ludwig kit to be wearing....MOD ORANGE.

Same shell, but this would result in many sets of extra holes, as the 6 lug and 8 lug spacing would be quite different. Must admit it looks good, though strictly a player's drum.

I wonder if that's the deal with this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/360454801080?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649? The badge has obviously been off (new grommet and chewed up hole on the inside). Even though the starting end of the wrap seems to be under the end of the first ply I'm not sure the edge of the wrap by the bearing edge looks quite right either. The wrap almost looks too good.
