Please help ID these Rogers drums Last viewed: 9 minutes ago

I am getting ready to hopefully buy these cool drums and would like some input. Unfortunately the tags inside the shells are long gone.

By the looks of the logos they appear to be late 60's but I'd like some confirmation.

Are these pre CBS? Also, I was wondering if it looks a bit odd that the inside of the kick drum is black.

He is missing the original kick drum lugs and one of the arms of the kick is a bit broken, hoping I could find a replacement. Any comments on what these are worth? Thanks in advance for any help,

Dorian

Not sure about that bass drum. Don't remember seeing swivomatic spurs and Memriloc tom holder. Is the bass drum interior painted? Might have been virgin bass and the tom holder added. I had one like that, but it had the sprus changed out as well. Some of the spur mount washers not original. Lugs screws look pretty new and look to be phillips, something Rogers did not do.

Any rerings on the toms? Color of tom interior paint - flat grey or splatter white/grey? What does the interior of the tom mounts holes look like? Any extra holes where a Swivo mount was changed for a Memriloc? Script badge and memriloc mounts is not common either.

Do they look like rewrapped? Check the nails on the interior of the badges to see if they looke new or old with patina.

No paper tags might mean a new shell kit with mix of vintage hardware? The small paper tags of the 9/72 Fullerton era would have come off pretty easily with little residue to show on the paint....

Some interior shots would help.

Thank you for the comments. I will keep your points in mind. I have not viewed them in person yet but perhaps I could snap a few pics and post them up. The black on the interior of the kick seemed odd, also weren't the tom mounts offset? I'm afraid someone has cut into the kick. - arghhcrying2-07

I am a rookie fan of Rogers so I don't want to buy a hacked up kit because I don't know what I'm looking at. Cheers

If the interior on the bd is not paint, then this is not Rogers shell. Post some pics of the mounts and interiors to help as well.

My first guess is a rewrap.

that is a fullerton era spur tensioner. The inside of the drum appears to be originally a memrilock drill, and the swivo is a retrofit. I am thinking the hole is too big, and the large washer close to the front of the drum covers an original memrilock hole. The interior fasteners are completely incorrect and the screws are too long so he added cup washers under them to take up the space. Cant tell much about the toms. The memrilock tom mount is in nice shape and has one Real Rogers tom arm, the left one. The right one is larger, flat sided and thus, is an island music era import. The ratchet teeth are metric and will not marry up to the USA Rogers. That bass drum is totally suspect.

Guys,

Bowing

Thanks for the quick response. I was excited for this kit, but I don't want something that's not original, or at least close.

Sigh.

Appreciate the help,

Dorian
