I made this shell entirely from Poplar that I bought at Home Depot. It is a 13x7. I was amazed at how good it sounded. It is pretty loud and warm. I painted a layer of clear lacquer inside and out and then covered it. Poplar is not a go to wood for high end drums, but it makes a surprisingly good shell. very stable and easy to work with.

Please tell us how you made the drum

Impressive.

Thanks, scott

at Green GLass and Macr0w. It's a standard Stave shell build using my jig, a saw and router. I'm guessing it pretty similiar to what you build Macr0w. 20 staves, 9 degrees on each side. Glue em up, clamp them down. Route down the outside to 12 7/8", route down the inside to a thickness of 3/8". sand smooth. I cut the bearing edges to double 45 degrees and rounded over the sharp edge. I hand sanded the snare beds. My wife picked the wrap from Jammin Sams, but she was not happy when I sold it, she really thought the wrap was nice. A very nice snare, but 13" is not my thing. I like more surface area although it sounded like a 14" probably because of the 7" depth. . . .James
