POWERSTROKE 3 vs POWERSTROKE 3 WITHOUT STRIPES ? Last viewed: 3 hours ago

Hello everyone.. Was just wondering about something.. I recently purchased a coated Powerstroke 3 for my kick side and the sales guy screwed up and took out a coated Powerstroke 3 reso side, or one without the stripes.

Didn't notice this until i got home because i've been going my local shop and have known the salesman for years, and assumed he would give me the right product, which he's done almost every time, so i didn't bother to double check..

It was a busy day and i can see why he made the mistake.. The Remo box also doesn't indicate anywhere that it's with or without stripe and just says it's a powerstroke..

Now , on to my questions..Has anyone ever tried playing with a powerstroke 3 coated without the stripe on the kick side and does the presence of the stripe make any significant difference in muffling ? The head also did come with a falam patch, but it looks thinner than the usual one and is more transparent, which i find odd..

All answers are appreciated..

It's just ink. Same underlying 10mil mylar ring, which is what creates the muffling effect.

I have a boatload of them without and with stripes they are the same head just one doesn't have stripes. It's for cosmetics. alot of drummers use them as front heads. I do myself on my 28" bass drums.

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

Ok, great ..Thanks guys.. I guess i'll keep it..I just assumed that those two stripes made some difference in tone and muffling..I find it strange that Remo would put stripes on their heads when they make zero difference..I assume it's to differentiate the reso head from the batter head, and for aesthetics..Not too many drummers like those stripes on their front head, yet still demand a coated powerstroke.. Makes sense..

Cheers !
