Hi there.. Picked up a set of ludwig stainless steel's this weekend.. Along came some vintage italian zanki cymbals and a nice premier 2000 snare drum, 14X5,5. Im wondering what kind of material the shell is? Some info.. No pitting, magnet won't stick (so steel-shell is out of question).. A small dent, but nothing major like many brass snares has.. Is this most likely and aluminum or brass shelled snare? I haven't heard of any 2000 with brass shell, but an aluminium shell without any pitting is kind of a rare sight.

Oh I just realised that I started this thread in the wrong forum, if someone could move it to the non-USA section that would be great..

I believe the shell is aluminum . I have a deep 8x14 2005 ( ? ) wood shell drum with chrome covering that served me faithfully for all the years I lived in Tokyo ( 1985-1995 ) . Took it to every gig we played . Bowing

Must be aluminium,...
I've seen quite a few 2000's with superb chrome.
Enjoy it,... you have a great drum !
