Problematic Ludwig Kit!! Last viewed: 6 hours ago

To Pounder.

You do not have to scratch your head. I do enjoy the kit and play it every

day. I was under the impression the Clubdate was an inferior sounding drum,

I have not heard a classic & Clubdate side by side.

Your comments are well taken and I will keep my eyes open for a Classic bass.

I appreciate the appraisal, & at that price I will not sell the kit.

Thank you.

The shells were identical. Only difference is the lugs and the spurs. Otherwise, same drum. Less screw heads inside the drum, but you have the telescoping spurs instead of the fold-out spurs. I'm digging the look of your kit! Have fun, and no need for "Classic Bass envy!"

Good advice. You'll come across a Classic BDP bass eventually, so save your nickels, & enjoy your kit. At least you knew enough to get the classiest wrap ever made....marko

I would save my pennies for a classic bass, one will come along soon enough. Some people think the cluddates are more open and resonant, possibly because the tension from the t rods is being distributed equally on the lugs, less pull on the shell than with single casings on each side of the shell. You see more clubdate kits with a classic floor tom because the bass and 12 mounted tom were offered as a package, and people would add a classic floor tom.

I thought Club dates were mostly 20" bass drums, for easy transportation and

cost a lot less.My kit seems to be one of a kind, I wonder how much the original purchaser would have saved by buying " odd drums " or as stated earlier, maybe he preferred the sound of the Club Date bass drum.

Anyway I have taken the advice of my peers and will keep playing it and enjoying having a super set.

This excellent forum has opened my eyes regarding vintage drums.

Cheers!
