Question regarding 1924-28 Ludwig Universal snare Last viewed: 1 day ago

Hi all

I recently acquired this drum. It's a 4 x 15 model & it's in great shape.

I replaced original snare wires & upgraded to 15" Puresounds & vintage Coated ambassador head. My question is can anyone let me know the metal this drum is made out of? There is NO pitting on the drum & very little rust on the rims. Still learning everyday!

Brass shell. I saw your post on facebook, it looks great.

Yep, nickel plated brass shell. Really a clean snare...nice! The hoops are especially nice. They usually rust because they are nickel plated steel. Keep them polished.
