Question: Will a Magnet Stick At All To A Brass Shell? Last viewed: 5 hours ago

So, dating tells me its brass (best I can figure), but my magnet sticks a little to the shell and to the hoops. It doesn't stick hard like you'd expect, so curious if a magnet can stick at all to brass?

Seems like a dumb question, but I just don't know how to find the answer!:confused:

A magnet will NOT stick to brass, or aluminum. A magnet only sticks to "ferrous" metals...aka iron and steel.

What kind of drum are you trying to determine if its brass or not?

Thanks L-D, that is what I thought but just wasn't sure. That also helps date my Festival at later than 1971. Looks like I was right putting it on the chart at somewhere mid-1972.
