Hi all,

I have a line on this Slingy set, 1950's with cymbals....$1150.00 is that a good deal? Never had Slingerland.

It probably hinges entirely on the cymbals. For whatever reason, Slingerland drums do not command a very high resale price. I, like many here, really like Slingerland drums, but they are not high on resale value.

I agree, I'm trying to school myself real quick on Vintage Cymbals. This site of course is a great place to start.

I agree. Who knows why. I love Slingerlands but the company no longer exists so maybe outta sight outta mind. It's tough to recoup anything more than $1,000 if you decide to resell. Silver sparkles will always be sought after though. I think $1,000 is a fair price even without the cymbals being too valuable. Go for it if you can afford it. I know someone selling a rather rare (as far as I know) Slingerland 4 piece jazz/bop set in white pearl wrap w/matching Krupa snare for $1,000 and he's had them on the market for over a month - no buyers yet. Good luck.

I agree with all of the above. If the cymbals are K's (probably not though), do it. If not see how far down they will go.

Is it a 13/16/22 with 5.5 x 14 snare? I see one vintage piece of hardware (flat base cymbal stand). The original bass drum cymbal arm might even be in the trap case.

It's still a sweet looking kit. Silver sparkle aged to a light ginger ale. Nice! I hope the cool trap case with wheels is included. Vintage trap cases are starting to gain popularity.

Good luck and let us know.

What's missing......original hi-hat stand that I can see. I think it's a bit overpriced unless it was a 20-12-14, then I could see paying some cash, but if you're that hot for it, it's always best to sit back and itemize.

I'm not bragging at all, but I bought a 1965 Slingerland Jet Kit (18,12,14) with the COB snare, original hi-hat stand, snare stand, cymbal stand, pedal, leather cases for all drums AND a set of 15 inch Zildjian hi-hats, 18 inch 602 PS crash and 20 inch 602 PS Medium ride. All of that for $900.00, and it was 2 years ago when prices were ridiculous....

So with that I'd have to say the price this person is looking to get is a bit high......

I passed on it. High hats were cheap, crash and ride were USA made, drum mount cymbal hardware was stripped, chrome had issues and some would need replaced. Good point, nice cast hoops, factory born kit. Funny though no badge on the floor and mounted Tom, no vent hole either. I tossed $600 at him but no luck.

Believe it or not, Slingerland did not put vent holes or badges on their toms until somewhere around the mid sixties. A Slingy genius will chime in with more details I am quite certain.

What the rest have said is a fact... nothing at all wrong with them, but Slingerland's have to be the most undervalued drums out there. Or maybe the rest are over valued... who knows. I'll say this, though. If you want fine drums and are on a budget, get Slingy's.
