Hello all,

Still searching to find a decent and inexpensive snare that is solid and sounds good, and i was just wondering if anyone can give me any info on this snare drum that i found. It's a vintage style Pacific Drum Co. CX series maple snare drum made by DW in Mexico. I found a really well recorded video of an entire kit with this same snare on Youtube and it sounded really good. I made an offer of $60, but the shop says that $80.00 is the best they can do..Can anyone tell me anything about this snare drum, pros, cons if any, and if $80 is a good deal ?

Cheers,

Rob

I've played a few of these in person and they seem like a really good deal for maple under $100. I feel that the Pacific line has gotten better over the last few years.

They are selling used on eBay for anywhere around $50 up to and over $100. $80 from a music store is an OK deal especially if you are not paying the shipping.

Thanks for the info Pressroll.. But i just realized that the gold plate rims (which i'm not crazy about,) aren't original, and the shop wants my vintage Paiste 404 medium hi hats in exchange, plus $80 for the snare that's not 100% original.. Not a very good deal after all.. I'm passing on this one and will wait for more to pop up..

cheers,

Rob

Yep, definitely not worth it. Keep an eye out on eBay or Reverb.
