Please excuse me if im asking a dumb question, i am still learning about these drums.

I know that the duco are painted and there for have a outer ply of maple, does that also go for the radio kings with marble lacquer, do they also have a outer ply of maple?

*Specificity the ones from the Gene Krupa Jr kits

I'm not really following the color your speaking of, but if it is painted or stained most of the time the outer ply is maple on the opposite side if it is a wrap most of the time it is mahogany outer ply.

Isn't the marble finish a wrap with Slingerlands?

I have one of those sets. I have areas where the finish has "peeled off". It's almost like a contact paper finish.

yeah im aware of the rule of if stained or painted its maple and a wrap is mahogany.

I only call it lacquar because thats what the orginal magazine ad calls it.

So if its like a contact paper does that means its a more like a wrap and has mahogany outer shell?

I'm fairly certain that it's painted on and not paper or anything like that. Yes, maple outside.

I have red that the older faux marble finshed Slingerland drums were painted, and the later ones were covered in a contact paper type of wrap similar to most of the faux "Knotty Pine" finished drums that were modeled after real Knotty Pine drums that were made for Gene Krupa to use in his basement with Knotty Pine paneling.
