Radioking Year? Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Loading...

Some years ago this was given to me from a now Ex's father. He had it as a backup years ago and never liked the sound. The again the original handle was gone and I've since replaced it. The wrap had been painted over so I removed it and stained the drum for myself. Everything is original but I can't seem to place a date on it. It's pre serial number. Once again your help is greatly appreciated.

Looks like 53-56 badge. I'd say more towards 53-54 with the beavertail lugs and stick choppers. Think 55 was when the later sound king lugs came out. Great sounding snare drums with the solid maple shells. A sound quite their own. Hopefully someone can nail it down closer for you.

That seems fitting. Most of the Radiokings I've seen were earlier or later. So if this model was made for roughly a year, makes sense you wouldn't see as many. And yes, once I got the replacement handle and a new set of Puresound wires. It really came to life. This is one I'll hold onto for a long time, and someday pass it along as it was to me. It's got good vibes.
