You know, the floor tom I sold you does look beautiful and you could refinish the rest of the kit to match and you'd have a beautiful kit. That said, I think the drums are YOUR drums and you should do what ever makes the kit so that you love it. It does not matter what I or anyone else thinks. I always thought that Ruby Red Diamond Pearl would look great on a round badge Gretsch kit.

If you did decide to do tangerine be sure to get SUPER Tangerine as it is the match for the old stuff.
I'm in a similar position with an old Radio King set. It was already stripped and rewrapped decades ago and that wrap is pretty beat and basically falling off. I want to do something that is "classic" yet different. At the moment I'm leaning towards a traditional marine pearl but in a non traditional color.
Gretsch did a green and also a red pearl at the very end of the round badge era. Those are both somewhat rare and very cool although I don't know of anyone reproducing those exact shades of those colors although you can get close.
I'd love to do a Jade green although that also seems unavailable outside of having an expensive custom wrap made up. Here are some other unique options though...

I love Oyster Black Pearl but it would strike me as out of place on a Gretsch set...your results may vary.
Beware that a "sparkle" wrap is thinner than a "glass" wrap and when it comes to Gretsch shells, even "sparkle" wrap can make the heads tight.
Jammin Sams has a sale on White Pearl. For some reason, I've been drawn to this lately. I think it blends really well with the chrome lugs and hoops.

The green ran into the SSB era...... If you find a place o get this color, let me know. I'd love to add a couple more sizes and haven't found anything.

Nice kit.
Well guys,
I think I have rendered this thread a complete waste of time because now I have decided to go with black pearl or black diamond pearl. LoLoLoLo
After much consideration by myself and taking opinions from many people I have decided that I just like the bdp better.
It was my original choice but I got talked into the oyster by my bass player.
I do like it but I think I will go for the BDP.
I will post some pics after it is complete. Party

You could probably get the color pretty close on those custom wraps that Precision and Drum Supply can make (expensive but they can do almost any shade). The bigger problem would likely be duplicating the pattern of that pearl. Most of the modern stuff has a much tighter pattern that wouldn't match up with those classic Gretsch's too well.
A local music store had a SSB Gretsch cocktail drum in that Emerald wrap. It was very cool but it sat in their store for years and years. Not really a lot of market for such a thing with the local C & W and/or rock bands. They went out of business but I did track them down years later (searching for the stack of new Turkish K's they also had). Most everything that was worth anything was gone but they still had that drum sitting out in their garage. Unfortunately they wanted a ridiculous price for it (over a grand). They wouldn't consider any reasonable offers because they were sure it was worth a fortune and yet it apparently wasn't worth the effort to take it inside from the leaky dirt floor garage that was in real danger of collapsing down around it. I never went back but I'm sure someone got it eventually.
