My downsizing goes on. I sold my early 70's Fibes set last week. I still have two drum sets too many for my new downsized drum room. It was difficult to decide which drums need to find new homes. The drums I'm offering for sale this week are a beautiful set of 1966 Slingerlands consisting of 14x22 bass drum, 16x16 floor tom, 9x13 mounted tom, and 5x14 matching snare drum. The toms and bass drum all have what look to be maple inner plies with date stamps of April 1966 on the 16x16, October 1966 on the 9x13, and November 1966 on the bass drum. The snare drum does not have a date stamp. But, the serial number chart puts the snare drum in that 1966 range. The floor tom does not have a vent hole or badge which leads me to believe that this drum set was shipped as a transition set that has drums made before and after the vents and badges were used on toms. The Red Glass Glitter is brilliant with no blemishes except for a small missing piece of wrap on the bottom of one hoop. There will be no need for any new heads unless you want different heads on them. Unpack 'em, and gig with 'em. There's no need for any clean-up, either. The snare drum stand in the picture is not included with this drum set.
The snare drum is a great sounding six lugger with the Rapid Strainer. The snare, and both toms have internal tone controls. The 9x13 has two of them (top and bottom heads). The rail consolette is in almost-new condition. There is a cymbal mount on the drummer's right side that is not stripped. All spurs and tom legs are intact, and in great shape. I think that this great drum set is worth $1,000. If you don't want the snare drum, I'll be glad to keep it, and reduce the price of the set to $900. Shipping cost is for the buyer to pay. Shipping by Greyhound Bus is fast and costs less than UPS and Fed Ex. Here are the red beauties:
