I'm considering picking up a couple Ludwig drums. Preserial keystone badge I believe. The guy says there are illegible date stamps in red on the painted white interiors.
Did Ludwig ever use red ink for stamps? Never seen it...
Thanks guys.

Yes!! they did.
I had a trans badge black and duco Ludwig bass drum with a red stamp on the mahogany inner shell. It was from 1959. The rerings were maple.
So is it legit that these would be painted inside? What would the ply lay up be on this era? Are they mahogany like WFLs, just painted?
They also have the red muffler pads.
Sorry. 1 more thing... Asking $300. 8x12 and 16x16. Blue sparkle, no mods.
Good deal?
Sounds legit. From pre serial time. Same as WFL. Can be either Maple outer or Mahogany, Poplar core, Mahogany inner. Re-ring Maple.
Maple outer ply usually associated with paint finish, but not always.
Nothing with Ludwig is always.
If theyre in real good condition I would. The FT could go for $300 in some circumstances.
Those will also sound amazing!
I need amazing!
$300? Hmmm. Compare this

12/13/16/22 for $600
Pricing is highly variable. I don't know if blue sparkle is rare and more desirable than red sparkle. Others may know.
They started the red date stamp in 1956....
I'll take Red Sparkle over Blue any day!
