Remo Acousticon 516 drum set, any info? Last viewed: 4 hours ago

Hi Gang. I'm new. Forgive any missteps, please!

I picked up a Remo drumset at a garage sale, but I'm having a hard time identifying it. It has Acousticon 516 shells, but it has gray triangular badges that don't have the name on it (unlike many of the badges I've seen that were black and had "Bravo" or what have you on them). I read somewhere that Remo didn't start putting the kit name on their badges until around 1994, so I'm guessing it's at least that old or older. I can't find ANYTHING with this particular badge anywhere on the web. Does anyone know what this kit is?

Thanks in advance!

In the early 90's I remember a drum shop having a display of a half circle of the new acousticon shell to show it's strength, you could stand on it.

the 516 meant the shell was 5/16" thick. The lug casings look different than the later 90's kits, yours are smaller and squarer looking.I can't remember when they started with the 516 716 etc shells though.I would guess yours are one of the earliest versions of that line.

Welcome to the forum by the way.
