Replacement mini-P83 strainer? Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Loading...

I bought an early 70's Ludwig piccolo (that sounds amazing and is a great drum) that has a strainer (catalog calls it a "pioneer" throw) whose handle has been removed. I attached a picture of the snare and you can see the throw off in it. Does anyone have any history/facts/current pricing info on the throw off itself? The drum doesn't stay tuned because the wires will always become too low due to the strainer not being locked in place.

Welcome to the forum!

Also referred to as a P-84. Someone on here might have the replacement part you need or a fix.

If you're not concerned about it being original, and/or can't find the part. I think the Gibraltar Piccolo strainer should fit that hole spacing. I am using one on a 30's Pioneer right now and it works great.

That's actually the P-80 picollo strainer, and although no longer in the Ludwig parts catalog(which is curious since they still sell the P-87).you can get it at www.drumfactorydirect.com

I think it's about 50 bucks.Just search Ludwig P-80 on the site or drum parts,snare drums,strainers.
