Rick Nielsen American Pickers.... Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Watched American Pickers last night, and they had Rick Nielsen from

Cheap Trick on the show. They went through storage lockers he had of

goodies he's accumulated over the years. He said that he has over 1,900

guitars!!! When they were looking around for something to buy, I saw

some boxes labeled LUDWIG. Too bad we couldn't have seen what he had

in drum equipment!! He opening a storage container that had numerous

guitars lined up inside, most looked like Les Pauls. They also found an old

mixer that once belonged to THE WHO. If you haven't seen this episode,

it will probably be on later in the week. Check it out.

I think I know what's in the Ludwig boxes. Rick purchased from or through me two sets that were still boxed in the factory boxes.

A 22,16,13 Green sparkle Legacy set, and a 24,16,13 "Bun E Carlos" limited edition Legacy set (#3), in citrus glass.

Rick owns a few other sets purchased under similar circumstances as those two, but they weren't boxed up in Ludwig boxes.

... and this is why this forum is so great!

I always keep an eye open for vintage gear when I watch that show.

Thanks for chiming in, BEC.

I'll look for the episode - thanks for the post.

I've said this before....I like watching the show but it drives me crazy when Mke is crawling over/past what appears to be a vintage drum...to grab an oil can haha. But I do watch the show when I can.

One thing that I think about is this. Do Forum members search out some of the places Pickers have shown on TV? I think if Canadian Pickers (Scott and Sheldon) were in my neighbourhood and passed over some interesting boxes/drums I would be contacting the land owner and trying to set up a visit. Has anyone here ever done that after watching American Pickers? Some of those places they've been to look like so much fun to just go have a look.

I always shut that show off when I see them crawling over piles because the next thing I expect is for one of them to step on a nail! After having done that several times in old barns and abandoned houses in NE in my youth, I shutter to think of it!

So I'll just wait for you guys to find all the cool stuff and sell it to me later.;)

As growing up, and my parents dealing in antiques for over 40 years (traveling the nation), my father told me...."don't let TV fool ya....if there is a glory hole, they just didn't leave with what is shown"....I agree with my dad. If you were in a situation where you could make a buck, you would do the same thing. They know their stuff, and have seen them pass over many a good deal. I don't believe it. They don't show EVERYTHING on the show. Hell, one of them is probably a member of this forum...LOL

That's true. After we see Mike and Frank drive away from the seller's property at the end of the show, we never see them drive back to pick up the camera man! I bet that's when the off-camera deals happen.

And thanks Bun E. for disclosing the juicy contents of those Ludwig boxes. So how many drum sets did you take on the road, or did Rick's guitars take up all the room in the trucks?

I only took one kit at a time on tour. Once in a while I would make a purchases on the tour, then the purchased gear would ride along until near home.
