BeatlesLane.com is a pretty cool website. Don't know why, but I've read a couple of books about the Beatles lately. Of course, the required reading "Beatles Gear" book!

From Hobbs

I hate the Beach Boys. Always have. But that's great you think they're the greatest cheese out there. Don't like Cher much either. Cher out-Beach Boys the Beach Boys.Point: who cares? Go home & wax your John Stamos cards -c

Even if you are serious why would you admit that where others can see it? Thats like going on a ***ish message board and saying you love nazis, I mean seriously, no one "hates" the beach boys and if you really believe that Id like to know what kinda garbage you call music; anyone and everyone who loves music and has knowledge about it would find your statement to be beyond asinine. Seriously thats ridiculous.

The only "session " guitar player the Beatles used, was Eric Clapton.who plays the solo on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" Between,John ,Georgs and Paul, there eere enough chops to get the Job done. There were NO other drummers used besided Ringo, unless you want to believe that nonsense Bernard Purdie is selling.Again, with zero proof. The reason that it's difficult,is because it dosen't exist. They all played their own instruments.Period.Steve B

Obiously the beatles did all the session work on sgt peppers, the white album and abbey rd, but there were session guitarists and drummers on hard days night, help, rubber soul and revolver, EVERYONE was using session players at that time; and just because they chose not to credit them at that time doesnt mean they werent used.

Yo, kook -

Your name befits you. You're a man in serious need of a sense of humor. Nazi ... & the ***s: really? What a nut!

Same argument (minus the preposterous above) goes for Ringo - the exact point I tried tickling your funny bone, pointing out your absolute absurdity. The other dude ASKS for a photo of Ringo & you go loony crazy humorously like the Third Reich propaganda machine.

I listen to a wide spread of tunes: Who, Rush, Miroslav Vitous, Brian Blade, Kenny Garrett, Alt-J, Bombino, Gonzola Rubacalba, John Williams (guitarist), Smiths, Miles Davis, MM Jacket, Leo Kottke, Paco de Lucia ... O, and the Beatles ...

Okay, not Cher, & I don't really hate the Beach Boys, but even though they have a unique sound that is backed up by some serious musical knowledge and creativity, they just seem, yes, to me, a bit syrupy & TOO quirky at times - this probably has more to do with Brian Wilson than anything else (that ridiculous vegetable song) & points to some major drug use by artist & listener alike.

I bet there are more who do not care for the BB than the Beatles in these parts, btw. I've never met anyone who has ever said the like the BB - ever. Beatles?

Hope the original poster finds his photo - Chris

Adam, Josh is one of those peeps that thinks this band or that band is the best, We all well at least most of us real musicians know there is no such thing, He is a Beach boys freak, and trashes the Beatles on any occasion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tH9zG28GQEg

I'm a fan of both the Beatles and the Beach Boys. I don't think that using studio musicians diminishes the quality of either band. After the first few hit records, Brian Wilson recorded most of the music and many of the vocal parts in the studio while the rest of the band was out touring. The music was still Beach Boys music. In the latter years of the Beatles, one or more of the band would be in the studio without the others. Some Lennon/McCartney songs were either all Lennon or all McCartney songs. Both bands employed studio musicians on many of their recordings. The studio musicians on Beatles records were mostly players of horns, fiddles, or keyboards. So effin' what? Both bands were able to perform most of their music in live performances until the production of the albums became so complex that neither the Beach Boys nor the Beatles could reproduce the recorded music in live performances. I like much of the live performance-friendly and also the elaborately contrived studio recordings that are not possible to perform live without many added performers.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

John Lennon was once asked if he thought Ringo was the best drummer in the world, and he replied, "he,s not even the best drummer in The Beatles". I assume he was talking about Paul, who actually played drums on some gigs before they had a regular drummer. Paul played on a couple Beatle tracks as well as all the drums on the Band on the run album.

My humor is screwing with people's heads when they make absurd remarks like undermining the Beach Boys in a music forum thread. I aint a kook for nothin ha! I never said the use of studio musicians determins the quality of the music. but when someone disses the BBs its nothing short of sacrilige, joke or not its just asinine,
