So for all of those bidders who might have fallen a million or so short on Ringo's 63 bop downbeat -I present to you Brian's 67 all original obp downbeat for a quarter of the price! Not being sanctimonious, but omg never thought I'd give up my obp, but in the words of Sean Penn -that's some righteous bucks dude! I'll even throw in a 67 across or 67 supra for the right price!!Mind Blowi

I put a post on FB saying that I would sell one of mine for less than half of what was paid for mr. Starkey's kit.

I wonder what he will do with them? Anyone read anything? Hell, he could open his own museum up with just that kit inside and people would pay to go in and have their pic taken with it. I know I would!

Hopefully, this bodes well for the future health, wealth and well being of the 60's vintage obp kits. I do wonder if it will all come crashing down after the demise of the Beatle generation though.

Interesting read.

I'm not sure how much I care for his idea of having "artists" come in and play Beatles tunes on these instruments he's collected. Seems to me that would require new heads and other changes rather than just leaving everything in its current state. Just strikes me as a weird idea to have, what might likely be, flavor of the week rock stars come in and jam Beatle tunes on museum pieces. A really expensive way to set up your own Beatles tribute band. I suppose you could argue that they are musical instruments and should be played and not locked away in a glass case...but in this instance I think they kinda should be. Sort of like if the Smithsonian suddenly started letting pilots take the Spirit of St. Louis out for a spin. I am sure my opinion matters not one iota to the new owner so we'll see what happens. Maybe I need to work at being on a hit record so I can qualify as an "artist" and go play them ;)
