I just heard that Deep Purple`s keyboardist/organist/pianist Jon Lord had succumbed this afternoon (July 16/12) to pancreatic cancer at age 71...I know this isn`t drum related, but, music has lost an amazing, seasoned musician...Very sad day...

Prayers for his family and friends...

Cheers

That is really sad news. Jon was one of the all time greats! Tremendous talent there.

It was John's keyboard that gave Deep Purple their signature sound. Tremendous musician. Another light went out...

I am 40......I first was introduced to DEEP PURPLE when I was 12.........I listened to Machine Head until the cassette wore out. I have LOVED the band since and each member respectively. Jon Lord was a very influential and talented musician to say the least. I am sad that I never had the chance to see him perform......
