I once used a sports heart monitor thing on a show in conjuntion with a physiologist and was very surprised at the results. My heart rate averaged at 140bpm but peaked at 174bpm and I used around 1800 calories! The Doc nearly fell over when he saw the results.

Seriously... "Stamina" is what I put it down to, much more than a fitness thing.. Skinny, Overweight, does not matter .. The ability to overcome pain.. and not skip a beat.. blisters.. blood.. love of the music, it's all part of me.. and at the end of the day it's all beneficial to our longevity IMO..

And then it's time to pack up the kit..

I'm a heart patient, so this is all good news to me. I have a stent in my left coronary artery to fix a bad blockage. Aerobic exercise is highly recommended for people like me. I already know how great drumming is as a form of exercise, I'm just pleasantly surprised to find out how very good it is!

If you see a drum, beat it! You'll live longer!
