Two different sized bass drums? Seriously.

Sounds more like two sets that have been married.

Without pics, serial number ranges, tag information, and well, a bit more than... its a Rogers, not even maxwells can help ya.

I am betting you have Five ply shells. Speckled gray interior. Made in Fullerton CA, 1975/very early 76. The Dynasonic has no dampener, I would like to know the serial of that specific drum. And please post pics of your Dynasonic. I am very interested in that drum, whats on it, the fact it has no dampener, what the top of the throw off knob looks like. Also, what do you know on the history of these drums? When exactly were they purchased new?

Now..... if all of your drums fall in these five digit serial number ranges, I would say thats a set.

The reason your drums interest me is that I am trying to establish an accurate serial dating for Rogers Dynasonics and Supertens for the early Big R era. Your drums are first year issue, and the dynasonic is a 2nd generation transition. There werent a whole lot made, but they are all like yours, without a dampener. As of right now, that doesnt increase value to anyone. The odd thing about your set is that you have two different sized bass drums.

Odd that folks find it weird that there are two different size bass drums when in fact players who were into double bass drums often had two different sizes as it was easier to obtain two different sounds , Ginger Baker always played two different sizes and I also played both two of the same and two different sizes 22 and 20 seems like today everyone plays a double pedal on the same drum and guess what it sounds the same..... instead of two distinct bass drums.... interesting thought for conversation myself I like the difference and you could order them any way you wanted.... my first rogers set 1965 was 2, 14x20 3, 8x12 16x16 and 16x18 so yes a odd setup but it was compact on the top..

Ploughman, I believe you have correctly identified the drums. Interesting stuff.

I've included some pictures of the snare as well as serial numbers for all drums.

Thanks for the input guys. At this point if you have an idea what the kit is worth I would like to know as im planning on selling these. Also would you sell the kit separately or include everything in the sale ie. 2 Rogers booms and a handful of cymbals etc.
