Hi Massik...

I just saw your post now... So, here's what's what:

The drum you have pictured here is a Fullerton, CA manufactured Rogers tom. The wrap color is "New England White" which will date this drum from 1973 to 1976... ( or late 1972 )... this is also consistent with the speckled "trunk paint" that Rogers used at the time. Also,

The collet nose is the CAST version, not the machined version... ( from best I can see ) ... which also puts the drum squarely in this date period.

In this size, 14X10, the drum could have been part of say a "Londoner VI" set up, which again would be consistent with the SIZE of the drum, and the hardware/wrap.

Hope this was of help!

Thank you! Do you know what kind of wood it is? If it's worth saving? Or can I just use the shell to make it look nuts?

Hey Pete...

The early Rogers collet noses were machined and had the words "pat pending", and "made in the USA" on top of the tapered crown of the nose. These are the BETTER collet noses and are much less prone to cracking from over-tightening. The chrome isn't as bright on the machined noses either. The machined versions came in with Swivo-Matic at around 1958...

The cast version came in after CBS bought Rogers and started "cheapening" up the line, so to speak. The cast collet nose is easy to spot as the "crown" is very rounded, much more so than the taper of the machined version... plus, the chrome is actually brighter and smoother on the cast version. The cast noses aren't so forgiving with regard to over-tightening... ( which should be avoided anyway! )... thus they are very prone to cracks/failures. Rogers was still using the machined noses as late as 1971... by 1973 they were ALL cast.

Hey Massik:

The shell on your drum is typical Rogers 5 ply of the time, maple/poplar/maple/poplar/maple... most probably supplied by Keller in NH. Is it "worth" saving? Well, only you know the answer to that one! I guess I wouldn't throw it out... if you didn't want to keep the drum, you could always part out the hardware and/or the shell. If it goes to a kit you own, I would certainly keep it... if it's an "orphan", again, perhaps sell it or part it out. As far as value, it's not all that much as a single piece. Hope this was of help!
