No bias here,..when they`re done get`n a champion,...We`ll put it up against the Brittish and let that winner come take a title shot at German drums !!

Are you suggesting that Sonor was the Rolls Royce of drums?!
Actually, as I recall in the 70's anyway, I always thought Sonor was kind of an unobtainable dream kit. VERY nicely made, or at least that is what I had heard.

I have never ever heard that Rogers drums were either the most sought after nor the best sounding. I suppose it is subjective, but I guess that Rogers could have, at one time, been the highest quality drums. I always thought that Sonor took that flag. Rogers certainly wasn't the best looking...with those hideous lugs.

George Way and Camco are the most sought after and best sounding! Well at least in my house they are ;-)
Camco/ George Way drums sound nothing like Rogers or DW as they have their own unique sound. However when Camco moved to LA the shells used were Keller (The same used by Rogers and early DW) instead of Jasper. The sound of LA Camco drums are very similar in tone to both Rogers and DW because of the shells. I don't care for that tone and I generally don't collect LA Camco drums. Not that it's a bad tone, it's just that I prefer a different tone for my tastes.

I just meant that since it is the "Vintage Drum Forum", there might be some bias for vintage drums when put up against DW.LoLoLoLo

Good point and no kidding! I like all of my drum kits, vintage and modern, for different reasons. Let a drum do what it does best and play on I say.

As much as I love Camco drums, their hardware was not very good, especially compared to Rogers Swiv-O-Matic hardware which was light years ahead of all other companies at that time. I'd love to see a Camco kit with all Swivo hardware! ....Perfection.
I've owned lots of 60's Rogers kits and every single one of them sounded fantastic. Extremely consistent in design and sound. I can't say that about any other brand I have owned.

Thats why camco players used rogers mounts.
