Rogers Blue Onyx 5 Tom Players Kit Last viewed: 6 hours ago

After much thought and falling for another kit, I’ve decided to sell my Rogers kit that I spent about 6 months putting together. This blue onyx kit is clearly a players kit that sounds fantastic and is in overall great condition with a mix of original wrap and re-wrapped components. Speckled grey throughout. Included are:

12” Tom, Original wrap, Dayton serial number 1704 Holiday

13” Tom, Original wrap, Dayton serial number 16185 Holiday

14” Fl. Tom Original wrap - has some splits - small section of bubbling - Dayton Holiday 72021

16” Fl. Tom professionally re-wrapped Dayton Holiday 16468

20" Bass drum with complete single offset tom mount and cymbal mount Holiday 25435. Has replaced rims with replaced blue onyx trim pieces. Other than that, another member thought it was original wrap but I’m not certain.

The 12 and 14 came from the same kit that was separated from the virgin 20” bd that came with the original kit. These were purchased from Greg Milson at Century Drums in Toronto, Canada (centurydrumshop.com).

Since the bass drum came from the factory with a singly offset tom mount, I purchased an extra swivo and connected a ludwig double ended clamp to the two swivos as a way to mount 2 toms that works pretty well. No extra holes or permanent changes were made to the bass drum (or toms) to do this.

The 13” tom was recently purchased at Steve Maxwell Drums in Illinois from Steve Maxwell Jr. (original receipt showing price of 245USD and original consigner goes with kit).

The 16 and 14 had their upper and lower bearing edges just re-cut by Seppo at TRS Custom Drums who has been restoring vintage drums for 30 years and is highly respected in the Ontario, Canada area - they were cut to factory specs, finished by hand, sealed with oil and then waxed. Seppo does meticulous work and does factory and warranty work for Gretsch among others. Seppo also checked all 24 lugs and rods and replaced any loose or faulty ones with spares I purchased. These drums now sound awesome, tune up easily, stay in tune and are a pleasure to play. (trscustomdrums.com)

Some spares are included: a spare Cleveland (flat grey) 12” shell in excellent condition with label, 12 spare beavertails with bolts, 12 (blip) rods with washers, both swivos, an extra cast tom collet and a set of 13” rogers hoops in excellent condition. The other 2 collets currently on the kit are machined. All toms have very recent coated ambassadors on batter and clear ambassadors on resonant. All toms have their mufflers. Base drum has a Super Kick 1 Aquarian batter and Rogers resonant.

I have a considerable investment in this great sounding and well-balanced kit and am taking a considerable loss on my asking prices of CDN $1800.00 or USD $1400 but there is a Canopus calling my name! I will send pics of course to anyone seriously interested. The kit is currently near Toronto and delivery or a meet-up within a few hours is possible. I’d rather not ship given the number of pieces.

Had some trouble getting the title to respond to my editing - it's a 5 piece with 4 toms , not five toms :)
