Love the flick of brush to stick end and timing of that move involved.

Here he is playing a nice silver sparkle kit on Letterman.

Note Dave at the end - "how old are those?"

You may not know the Eels, but you've probably heard of Steve Perry, formerly of Journey? Google: Eels/Steve Perry to see Steve's first public performance last year after a long absence. Drums sound good!

Ended up watching a Journey behind the music VH1 thing and kind of wondering how Steve Smith gets fired from Journey? Ansley Dunbar also was fired, double wows!

what the heck!

I love Letterman, never knew he was into drums??? much less enough to spot a vintage kit.

Surrounded by drummers here! (I am a guitarist.)

I saw Eels play over here in New Zealand a fair few years ago now. The drummer then was using a kit made out of suitcases and other non drum stuff in an 800 seat venue. It was very cool. Here's a video from that tour. I've heard a lot worse snare sounds coming from some very expensive snare drumsYes Sir

As much as i love Letterman he`ll always remind me of a baby duck(one of Huey,Duey & Louie fame) and in one of his early shows he referred to that himself. But he was always into drums and had he not had the interviewer talent that he had,i`m sure one of his dreams was to become a successful drummer.Sorry to deviate from the Eel`s thread...

Not sure why but seeing the Eels drummer playing the suitcase reminded me of Han Bennik

Not only that but check out Bennik's vintage gear, and this is from '74
