Rogers Dynasonic Help Last viewed: 29 minutes ago

Hi,

I own two Dynasonics and am trying to gain info on production year/location and whether the parts that are ON the drums are correct (some things are missing).

1) 5x14 Blue Onyx. Serial 24787. No tag inside shell. Missing snare bridge and muffler. No D on strainer. From what I've read in the Rogers Book, maybe 69/70, but it looks like blue onyx wasn't offered past 1967? And when did Rogers drop the D from the strainer?

2) Big R 6.5x14. USA badge. Serial D703574. Post 1976, but can anyone dial in the year? No D on strainer. Missing strainer adjustment nob. Missing snare bridge.

3) Dynasonic snare bridge. What year(s) is this one for? And is the adjustment screw, spring, etc correct for the year(s)? (note: the frame is darker colored than what shows in the picture.)

I know there are some resident Dynasonic experts here, so thanks in advance for any info anyone can provide!

Thanks Oddball! My original post was on 8/11, so I thought I'd do the "bump" to see if it would generate replies.

The drum guide shows Blue Onyx wrap as late as 1973 (better info than the Rogers book I used), but still doesn't say when the "D" was dropped from the strainer or give a better idea of serial number dating. I know they stopped making wood Dynasonics sometime in the 70s.

And still searching for info on this Big R model.

The Big R 70xxxx is 1977. Solid data for dating that one.

1975, five digit numbers to about 15000. Badge on right side of throw off, covers oval badge screw holes. These are the first gen transition Big R drums.

1975/6, five digit numbers into the 40,000 range, maybe higher. Badge moves to new Big R location, two panels to the left of the throw off. No Dampener on most drums.

1976, six digit numbers starting in the 60xxxx range.

The Blue Onyx is offered in the 1968 catalogue and pictured in the later 68 flyer. I believe your number puts it at a very late Dayton or very early Fullerton. It is in that time period, Im not sure. Others are more precise on these dates.

I am the go to guy on the Big R dates.

Thank you both!

Any idea of when the dynasonic frame (see photo in my first post above) dates from? My guess is "later" rather than "earlier" since the ends are flat.
