I just purchased a white marine pearl Rogers Dynasonic wood shell snare with serial number 7701.
Does anybody know what year this drum was manufactured or a good place to go to reference it?

Welcome to the Vintage Drum Forum. Excited
Please, please, please post pictures. Did it come with the aluminum snare rail, which helps hold down the snare wires?

You HAVE TO post pics!!!!
1967 had them in the low 10.000 range. Yours would be in 1966, probably early on. TommyP is a better source on dates for these 1960s drums.
wadesworld17!...
I recognize that serial number actually. You bought this drum from Optikdrums, correct? I have seen this particular drum a few times. With a serial number of #7701, this drum would be early to mid 1966. You were right on it Ploughman!
What is interesting about this particular drum, is WHY are those holes enlarged? I have owned 7 wood Dynasonics, currently have two, a 1967 and a 1968, both WMP, both near MINT condition, and never have I ever seen the lug mounting holes enlarged like on your drum. It is so odd! But the real strange thing is... you can see that the Beavertails were original to the drum! So WHY the enlarged holes? A conundrum for sure! Regardless... it will still play/sound GREAT if you get it set up correctly. That is the key. I wrote a brief little tutorial on this very subject. Have a look: http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/rogers_dynasonic_set_up2.html Good luck!
