Rogers Gold Sparkle [s]Tower[/s] Holiday Kit Last viewed: 3 hours ago

Loading...

Hey Everyone.

I'm new here! After eavesdropping on countless drum forums I decided to settle in here as you guys seemed to be the coolest and most knowledgeable.

I got my hands on this Rogers kit yesterday from the church I grew up at but haven't attended in 13 years. I had been hinting for years that I was interested in the kit but they wanted to continue to decorate their closet with them as they've been the focal point of the closet since I left the church. I got a call over the weekend saying they wanted it gone so I picked it up.....for free.....

The only real info I have is the church bought it new sometime around 1970 and it literally never left the building. It has all the original hardware with it.

The Toms all have Tower tags, but "Tower" is crossed out and "Holiday" is written above it. The kick has a true Holiday tag. They all have the same hardware and are identical models so they must have ran out of Holiday tags!

Another weird aspect is there's two 13x9 rack toms.

Does anyone happen to know anymore about it? I can't find another one online with two 13x9 rack Toms or the serial numbers.

Here's the specs:

20X14 kick -

16x16 floor -

and two 13x9 Rack toms:

From Eric Sirianni

I had been hinting for years that I was interested in the kit but they wanted to continue to decorate their closet with them as they've been the focal point of the closet since I left the church.

Laughed out loud! I can't help with any info except Rogers are top of the heap and you did very well price-wise. :)

Congratulations!

Mitch

Awesome kit! Different floor tom leg mounts? Also, are you sure there're not Champagne? Or is that just the pic?

Thanks for the replies!

Good call on the floor tom mounts, Rich. I was checking out other kits and didn't even notice the difference! I definitely like the originals better. That's a good question with the color, after looking at gold kits it does look more champagne. Especially where it's not faded.

The "top hat" outfit came with (2) 8x12 toms, but could substitute (2) 9x13 for a few more $.

Greatkit,..

These were maked at the end of 1968...(Dayton tags with speckled interior paint)

These are 5 ply with reinforcement rings...(maple Keller shells)

The wrap is original (Champagne)

Having 2 ...13" toms is normal...

You could trade one of these for a 12"..?

The 16 Flrtom has a (Ludwig)Leg mount..(need to replace this) are all 3 like this or just 1?

The muffler on the Flr tom is white..( usually there's are grey in color)

Are the 13" tom mufflers white felt or grey in color.?

Do u have the centre T tom mount that does into the bass drum.?

The Tower being crossed out and Holiday handwritten in, is normal..

Tower were the single lug design...(lower line)

Holiday has lugs on both sides of the drums...!

Post more pics of the toms,etc...snare.? Hardware...

And some of us here can help.

I'm lucky enough to have a few Rogers kits...

One of them is a Dayton series also..

Best of luck..

Awesome info. I really appreciate it!

All the mufflers are the same cream color and all of the floor tom mounts are that same ludwig style. What a travesty! I feel like it's my duty to get the originals back on it but I can't see my wife enjoying that idea after dropping $180 on heads for my third drumset.....

From what I hear, the heads were changed at most 3 times the entire life of the kit. It hasn't felt true love like I'm gonna give it in a long time.

Unfortunately there was no original snare. It did come with a Ludwig acrolite snare though!

I'll post some more pictures asap!

I was considering making one of the toms into a snare, but it might be a little deep for my liking and possible just a sad thing to do to a vintage drum.
