I always thought this was a Headliner configuration, but it has a collet cymbal holder not a knobby on the bass drum and only one cymbal holder. No extra holes, flat gray interior and it's the original wrap. The whole set's serial numbers are 85XXX which would place it around 1967, I believe.

So what is it?

Sizes 14x20, 14x14, 8x12.

Thanks!

Whoa! Is that a matching Champagne Dynasonic? I'm guessing a "Citadel" setup with optional wood Dyna?

Very, very nice!

Yes, its a wood Dyna. Same year. Amazing sounding snare. I don't know if it came with the set. I got these 4 plus a matching wood Powertone from Steve Maxwell about 8 years ago.

Looking at the 1967 catalog, the Citadel didn't have a cymbal mount. Maybe a Headliner with a different cymbal mount installed or a Citadel with a cymbal mount installed.

Did they change up the type of cymbal mount much?

Since both the knobby and the collet cymbal mounts were available concurrently, it wouldn't be surprising that some customers specified one over the other regardless of the catalog setup.

When I custom ordered my brand new Rogers double bass setup in '74, I specified no cymbal mounts with one bass competely virgin, so anything's possible.

Absolutely beautiful set. Thanks for sharing the pic.

It was the Swingtime. I didn't see it in the 1967 catalog but maybe they were still making it. Mine has the long articulated swivo cymbal arm like in the 1965 catalog too.

I'll bet that's it. Thanks!
