Rogers kit on ebay Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Hi folks,

I am not technically new here, though I don't "get out much" as far as posting on the boards here or anywhere else. I tend to look and listen, for my own education or curiosity. Please don't mistake my lack of participation as unfriendly.

If I honestly thought I could contribute anything more than an ignorance-based opinion, I'd be happy to do that...:)

I am a 51 year old part-time gigging bassist, but my first love was with drums in 1966 with a used and incomplete Ludwig WMP kit. I am not snooping for inside scoop on "deals" to buy & flip, as I've seen on many sites.

Anyway, I have been wanting another kit. I still have my 64-65 WMP Super Classics (pics are on this site) but now I crave some early '60s Rogers.

This kit caught my eye, and I think it's beautiful, but, and correct me if I am wrong, I "assume" (I know the joke...) must be overpriced -

(no offense intended if the seller is on this forum - but I'd guess it would have sold otherwise).

So what do you think? What are the red flags, if any? How far off are we from a good deal here? I really appreciate your expertise and help...guitar3

I think it's a nice kit but not a good deal, a bit high. Rogers kits always bring a higher price but without a snare I think it is overpriced. Just my two cents.

You can knock a hundred off the price for the free shipping........

Completed listings on eBay are saying $700 to $900

I really didn't dig in too hard on the details of the listings, maybe there were some defects......

One from Counterhoop went for over 2K, who knows why?

If the floor tom was a 14" - its a deal.

If a matching snare was included - also a deal.

I believe for a super clean 20 12 16 in the right color.. 1200 is a reasonable asking price... Again, wouldn't be a 'deal' but its not ridiculous. I just sold a 20,12,13,16 with no snare for 1800... It was a clean blue sparkle, so the color was rare.. Guess it really depends on the buyer. Those great deals are out there. I just saw a 20,12,16 with steel snare and ALL swivo hardware + stands in the Champagne Sparkle end on eBay for 700. The seller also threw in some 60s Zil hats. That seems like a nice score.

Seller's feedback scares me.

70s Slingy WMP
70s Ludwig Standard Aqua Mist
60s Ludwig Champagne Sparkle Downbeat
and a whole bunch of snares and hardware

Both are overpriced.

Rogers are awesome...but $1200+ should damn well get you the snare drum as well as some hardware....or in the very least double rack toms with a lotta hardware.

A nice 3-pc , as stated above, has a market value of under $1000.... unless the FT is a 14" or the Bass is an 18"....

MikeChandler...are you looking for a Rogers 3-pc ? If you would be interested in a pro rewrap job I can do you one for about $650 plus shippin'....all shells and hardware original bona-fide Rogers.....you choose the wrap style/color. Just FYI.

Seller's feedback scares me.

I went and read the FB, looks like he was the target of a Paypal scam, and ebay/paypal landed on his side. That and he got a neutral for not mentioning a few MINOR flaws, but the price was very fair, from the buyers point of view, so I think he might be an OK seller, just look and ask. Maybe make him an offer.
