Rogers Lug Question Last viewed: 2 hours ago

The kit I'm looking at has B&B lugs.I'm not sure of the tags inside yet but the SN are:24039-tom19685-FT21144-BD15304-snareI'm going to look at this weekend & will note which version of the logo is on there. Is it possible to date Rogers drums with the serial number as we all do with the Ludwig's?

Mark

If those are Holiday model serial numbers, those are 1969 Dayton era drums, and B&B lugs would make no sense as they were discontinued 6 years earlier. Can you post pics of the actual paper labels?

Here is Holiday tag 24494. Cleveland 16" floor tom. Keller shell 5 ply?), sharper edge and medium B&B lugs. Drum on right side is this one. The other 3 drums all B&B are Jasper shells. Cleveland tags. Please excuse in correct hoops and T rods. Still a WIP.

13015 bass long B&B lugs 22" Pirate badge.

16585 floor tom B&B lugs 16" Script badge.

18857 mount tom B&B lugs 13" Script badge.

I've also been a bit confused to the year vs tag numbers. Did they repeat the sequence at Dayton or Fullerton?

Glenn.

Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

Don't rub it in. I had a late 1963 22" 3-ply Cleveland bass in unfaded Blue Ripple (uncommon finish and last year for that finish) with factory Beavertails. After years of searching, I finally gave up trying to find the matching toms (with Beavertails), so I sold it to member here. Only later did I realize how rare that bass was, as Blue Ripple was discontinued in 1964 and would never again be available with factory Beavertails. [Attachment: 97124] Mike

Glenn,

No, they didn't repeat the Holiday numbers... I was confused! Glancing at my dating guide, I saw Dayton labels 21xxx-24xxx were indeed 1969, but those were POWERTONE labels, not Holidays!. My mistake and apology to Mark. Glad my mistake didn't deter him in any way from picking up that beautiful Mardi Gras set he showed off in another thread.

No worries Mike!

So it's safe to assume the Mardi Gras kit is 61-62 & the Swingtime model?

Yes, '61-62 would be accurate. Did you see the 5pc Top Hat kit in Mardi Gras currently on eBay (Item 222067681900)? It's the same vintage as your set. Fairly rare finish, so it's unusual to see two nice Mardi Gras sets pop up in the same week.

I just checked that out. Very cool. So the hoops are called tall boys..

Ok, now that comment in the other thread makes sense!

Yes that was me and I meant the rims but considering that kit I maybe should have meant tall cans of beer...:)

That's hilarious because I DID think you meant that! Like a "cheers"

It's good to know there is a wealth of Rogers info on VDF.

So my next question is how hard is it to find the replacement lugs?

They are different for each drum correct?

& I saw a post regarding replacement chrome ones so contact information or a link would be appreciated from anyone!

Thanks!
