Top of the shell painted grey, don't think they're Rogers, someone is pulling your leg....

..which shells, the ones I'm lookin at, or Mikey's? I don't see any grey paint on Mikeys', but I DO see a sticksaver hoop on the top of the snare...and twin simball sticks....along with oh, nevermind....I don't think either one is.....

Dang! Have you stopped and counted the number of things "wrong" with that kit? Wow. Serious? I would have to say that sompin ain't ryte widdat. Is this for real, Mikey?

Hi ,Yes its for real. This is what i have been told so far[these were also posted on the rogersownersdrum forum...This set i got some 20 years ago..The set has been rewraped in gold, not by me,[white backing on back of it] dates the finish to sometime in the 60s...The mounted tom [see photo] you can see were the paper tag and badge was removed..Not posted is the inside of floor tom same as mounted tom..The snare and bass never had a paper tag or badge on it..Floor tom legs and mounts[cymbal and tom] are duplex..Lugs[they have the right rogers washers and screws] i was told are B&B ones[first ones used],I know some of the rims are wrong this is the way i got it[some rims are rogers]..Ia'm going to email some photos to Rob Cook and see what he thinks about this set.....Mikey

I don't think it is outside the realm of possibility that you have a unique drum set there. It does not look altered to me.Tall boy hoops break at the weld on occasion, hence the replaced top rim.A change over designed lug would nessessitate one big and one small washer on the tom.If it's altered someone spent alot of time doing it-

The lugs on Mikeys gold snare appear to be the Kents I mentioned earlier. I have a Holiday snare I put them on.They have the same hole spacing as one mdl. b&b AND,the lug does NOT insert into the shell similar to b&b's. I'm wondering if Rogers had tom and bass lugs made by the maker of the snare lugs to keep the hole spacing the same?

Hi Mikey... The lugs are not the first version of the b&bs. I think they are Duplex. I do think the kit is probably all correct and is one of those strange one offs. I do have a contact (that you may have talked with) that would know more. Contact me off line and I'll relay his info. It looks like you are missing a strainer arm. I may have one for you.

Hi You are right on the lugs,i was just told today they are Duplex, also the person told me that its a Duplex set made with rogers shells,Duplex did this at the time in the late 1950s to mid 60s...They also said this is a very rare set its the only one he has seen..Rogers did have a set like it in 1964 catalog it was called The Buddy Rich ceb. set].I would like to email your contact--I will email you off line over the weekend..thanks mikey

This has become one of those "Who's On First" kinda threads. We've got two kits with questionable hardware and comments be flying between 'em. I'm starting to get dizzy....could be the cat....not sure.
