Rogers Mercury Bass Drum? Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Loading...

I'm trying to ID this drum. It is 20x14. It is single tension with the long t-rods and threaded claws. There is no badge, no sticker inside, and no extra holes. I think it could be a "Mercury" model Rogers. The edge pic is red because I had my thumb over the flash. I also have a 12x8 tom and 6 lug snare that match but they are missing parts.

Thanks for looking! Any info is appreciated.

Mercury is probably about as good a guess as most could make. The fact there is no script or badge is odd, but there is little doubt that it is a Rogers bass drum. Look carefully to see if there are any tiny holes that would have been for the brads that anchored a script to the shell. Someone may have pilfered the script. The bearing edges look to be the sharper edge and the ones used later than the eagle badge era.

It's a Mercury. The 'Classmate' was also single tension, but it had center posts instead of lugs.

I looked it over real good and did not see any holes (other than the vent) or any signs of script, badge, label, or any other kind of Rogers id. The hardware (muffler, ride stand, cowbell holder, etc.) do say Rogers on them.

If I were to sell it, what would be a fair asking price?

With snare and tom, someone might go into the several hundred dollar range, particularly if condition is very good overall (not many scratches on the duco finish) since it is a period piece that shows up in some of the catalogs. Do either the tom or snare have badges or scripts?
