Rogers Power Tone in the house. Last viewed: 1 hour ago

I ran across this Cleveland Powertone while at the Dallas Guitar Show a couple of years ago. It was all complete and original except for the Ludwig P85 strainer on it. I knew that I had an extra Rogers strainer in my drum room. So, I paid the man $100 for the drum, and switched out the strainer to have a very good Powertone snare drum. The only hickey on the drum is the usual pushed in area behind the strainer. I haven't yet had the inclination to try pushing it back to the way it should be. Although I prefer wood shell snare drums as my first choice, this COB drum and my Blacro would get some stick time if I resume gigging.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Thanks All !!Just a killer snare. Still loud as a rifle with an old school rubber practice pad. Smile hasn't gone away, doubt it will anytime soon.>> Does she still have her orig wires..?Don't know, MIT 20 strand are there now. Pics attached. Anyone know if this is the original stand? Per normal the rest of the pictured "band" are of no help :-). Cosmos, Tigger and Daisy bottom to top. She's off to the make bright and shiny dept. This ones easy. Appears no need to pull the lugs.Creighton

Thank you Sir! Suspected as much. Lack of "Rogers" anywhere was first clue :-)

Well wasn't happy with leaving the lugs on. Couple sticking, complete tear-down ensued. Hardware taking a Dawn bath now. Some serious grease on the throw. Acetone bath for him.

Here be the shell and a rim. Cleaning up well. No polish or wax yet. Just Windex with a micro fiber then Dawn MF followed by hot water wipe dry micro fiber polish. Hard hand work but I like the results.

Decided nothing less than 110% would do for this drum. Complete tear down. Tumbler running. Fingers sore from polishing the detail bits. Loving every minute. Pic be first pass at polish. Really nice chrome.

Then it hit me, the heads are beyond junk. What have owners had good luck with?

Thanks!

Creighton, the drum looks spectacular! You did a wonderful job making that think shine. Congrats go out to ya for scoring this awesome snare drum!

PS, I recently got my Rogers snare going. I believe it is a Dyna, it has a big R badge. I did not take the drum apart at all to polish ( I got lazy) and after seeing your results, I wish I had. And just like you, I now know what all the fuss is about, amazing drums!

Thank you!

Mr. C. Would you please detail all my drums for me?

You may be the best.

That is the best clean up I have ever seen.

I too have a P-tone SN.

What part did you lose?

Hopefully not a dreaded "pinch plate"
