Rogers question Last viewed: 5 hours ago

Thinking about looking at this kit and have 0 experience with Rogers. Could use some help. This kit has 2- 22" bases, 12,13,14 rack toms and 16,18 floors. It is a big R kit that is 75/76 ish. I can`t find this configuration in the cats. Can anyone tell me what the "poop" is on this kit? "poop" = good, bad, like, don`t like. Sorry small pic, only one I have. Thx, Tommy

My eyes are having a hard time with this one. I think it's the New Mahogany finish with good shells. It would obviously be a Fullerton kit. Looks like it's Memriloc hardware ... bummer. I wouldn't mind playing on that one. It will have a seriously wide open booming sound. Very cool. Depending on the asking price, you can do much worse.

Can't really tell the color from the pic. Koa maybe or New Mahogany or..?

Anyway Big R drums are great drums. The memoriloc hardware is strong.

See if you can get a pic of the badge. Pics of the inside if possible.Whats the asking price? This might be this kit. Looks like it.Rogers Kits were very customizable then. Or this could be put together by someone.

yes I looked at that catalog, the drums are not the same sizes. The guy is asking $700 with hardware. And it is the mahogany color. Were some of the Big R`s 3 ply and some 5?

Whether 3ply or 5,at $100 a drum with hardware I think it's a good deal.

Not a very pretty color but Rogers nonetheless.I have a 9/72 in Butcher Block and a 9/72 in New England White. Both 3ply. Except a BigR 16" floor tom in NE white. Nice sounding drums. Not Rogers best but I dig em. I would pick them up if there are no major issues like extra holes or major cracked wrap.

Its possible some very early Big R drums were three ply shells left over from the 9/72 days. You would probably only find those on badges with five digits. Six digit numbers started in the 600000 range and went up into the upper 700000 range, and about the time of the 1979 xp8 transition, badges became blank. In late 80, early 81 numbers picked up in the 900000 range and finalized in 1984 in the low 100000 range.

If these are complete with necessary hardware, the price is not outrageous.

This set started out in 1975 as a Londoner 5, the extra

16X18 floor tom then. In 1977 or 78 added the extra bass drum and the

larger mounted tom. I am waiting on serial numbers info. Were the shells from 75 the "good ones" as far as the Big R`s are concerned? Thanks bunches, Tommy

I have a Rogers tower series drum kit, it does not have the correct stands on them but if i were to get this restored how much would it be worth? I heard that the 14" floor tom was rare too, is that correct? According to this web site the age is between 1962-1964.Can anyone help?
