This was a great deal! Looks like Steve had a floor tom that matched already. It's up on the site for $1725. Apparently a 16" Red Onyx floor tom is worth $1325!!! :P

I think you got the math wrong because they sold for more than they were offered to VFD guys.

A complete set is often worth more than loners, particularly in the more rare finishes. That is even more the case if the finish is intact and unblemished. The exception is probably 14x14 floor toms and 14x18 bass drums.
