Have a friend picking them up for me today. They are black lacquer and not a wrap. I was speaking to the seller last night because I was concerned about wrap splits, etc. I am keeping my fingers crossed these are in good shape. But for what I am getting them for I guess I will be ok. Will have them in the morning or later tonight. I have everything I need except a bottom rim for the floor and tom to make them playable. I started teaching drums once a week at the new guitar center here and I get equipment at their cost so can check out the head situation when they get here.
Way to go, Tim! Black lacquer is easy to touch-up so if there are any little dings, or scratches, you'll have them looking like new again.
Great score.

That's an early 70's kit and it should be black wrap. If you look closely at the pic you can see the seam on the FT.

Nope, that tag would date them to about 1975 made in Fullerton. Still a great deal for $100...Congrats.

Rillow's right on the mark. That tag dates these Fullertons to 1975 (no letter prefix before the serial #, and no underline)... last script production before the conversion to Big R Memrilok era. I can confirm this because that tag is close to the numbers of the 8-piece set I custom ordered new in August 1975. This dating is also confirmed if the one remaining hoop on this bass has a black or Ebony inlay. The last script Fullerton basses wrapped in Ebony had matching inlay in contrast to previous black basses which had Silver Glitter inlays.
I brightened up the original pic, and it's clear that the bass rering has been sanded (maybe the bearing edge has also been cleaned up?). Note both wrap seams on the toms... right where they should be. I think the seller misinterpreted the finish. Don't be surprised to see an all-original, factory wrap.
Post pics when you get them, and let us know if you're going to keep them or resell them. I'd love to get that bass drum. I stupidly sold one of the bass drums in my 8-pc kit when double basses went out of vogue.

Still a heck of a deal for 100! They look like they will clean up real nice.
Ok, finally got them. Well, they are wraped. You guys were right on the mark. The drums are 14"x24" kick, 16"x16" floor tom, 10"x14" and 9"x13" toms. The shells seem ok, and the edges too. The front bass drum rerings has speckle on the outside of it. If it was sanded it was just the flat surface of it. The wraps are tight and no splitting anywhere. Just a few little nicks and a little tom rash on the bass drum. They are filthy but not scratched up at all. The 14" Tom is dis colored but it may clean up. It was in his attic and the lugs are pitted pretty bad and tom mount facing has lost chrome and rusted. Still operable though. Spurs and tom legs and mounts seem fine. Only one bent trod of the 10. Fixable.all mufflers are on the toms as well as the script badges. 2 on each mounted tom.missing one tom holder of the bass drum tom mount. I'll need a couple of those short tension rods to secure the ball but nothing seems stripped. It's in rough shape right now but I think it is going to clean up fine with minimal parts replacement. If that 14" doesn't come back I can always play it as a 4 piece. Just the bad pitting on the 14" lugs . I see potential here. I may be able to bring these back to a pretty nice kit. For some reason I can only post one pic at a time. K, going to remove some hardware and see how that 13" might clean up.
Thats gonna be a great project with great results!
