Rogers Serial #'s Don't match , Possible ReWrapped? Last viewed: 1 hour ago

the numbers match perfectly. Two tags, Dayton ranges, low 100,000 numbers, 68-69. And a typed in Holiday, Dayton..... with a number no where close. Typical for hundreds and hundreds of sets. They built drums. Serial number proximity is not something they worried at. I have no idea on your rewrap concerns. There is no real issue with the tags.

Grommet condition, and the position of the script logo nails will be most telling. If they have been removed and put back, that will show.

+1 what Ploughman said! I've had about 4 matching Rogers kits, both Cleveland and Dayton. SN's were never real close, but you could still tell they were from the same year. I've had close SN's with Ludwig and Slingerland, but not Rogers. No big deal, though! Enjoy your kit!

Sometimes, you get lucky. But mostly, once things got to kicking and production was important, many drums of the same size would be made at the same time.

My 64/65 give or take a month in either year, Wine Red Ripple 20-12-16 are very close. The high low span on numbers is 62. That is about as close as it ever gets. 44893, 44911, 44955.

Inside views. Those nails are bent over. If they are moved, you will see two sets of marks. Where they are, and where they were. Grommet will show signs of abuse and tool marking around the hole.

ScumBum,

Everything so far says original. Tough to get that fade on new wrap and tough to get that kind of corrosion on a replacement grommet. Old grommets were chrome plated. Newer replacements tend to be aluminum.

Send me a PM and I'll give you some good hints on how to ship. Include the sizes of the drums, which from the photos look to be a least an 8x12 and a 16x16. It's less obvious what you might have for a bass drum.
