Rogers snare drum needed Last viewed: 18 hours ago

Im looking for a Rogers snare with wood shell to go with my xp8 kit that I will be wrapping in veneer. So it needs to be one with wrap that has already been removed or is in need of a re-wrap. I am hopeing for a complete drum but will consider buying a shell and then finding hardware for it.

Thanks!

Have you considered one of these?

No need to wrap.

1981-84 XP10 Dynasonic or SuperTen. 6.5x14, ten ply all american maple, straight sided shell.

Price will run you from lucky to about 600 in this market.

Well Im going to have enough veneer left over to wrap a snare with so I guess thats what I have my mind set on doing. If I could find a sort of beat up drum like the one mentioned above, closer to the lucky side of price then that would be great. I will be keeping these for myself so I dont mind spending some money on them but need to keep it reasonable also. I think a matching snare would be the cats meoww!

Thank you!

Well, if you are deadset on a match, try to find one of these thats been a bit messed up. They are worth too much to wrap.

It sounds like the dyna or super 10 is too good of a drum for what I want to do. I cant imagine finding one with the finish so bad it cant be saved. Im considering just buying a shell and finding some Rogers hardware to go on it. It would be just fine to have a chrome Rogers Dynasonic also, have not ruled that out. I will not take a valuable drum and wrap it. I didnt realize the Rogers wood snares were that valuable.

Thank you for your input, I really appreciate it!

Its been decided to build the drum using a Keller shell. So now I need hoops, strainer, butt and muffler. Preferably from a 1980 or so big R badged drum. Im still not 100% clear how the Dynasonic strainer and bridge work together so please excuse me if I sound ignorant here.

I have ten lugs from a Dynasonic snare drum, year unknown but it looks like they did not change too much over a long period.

I think the Super Ten drums were a little less complicated than the Dyna so those parts would be nice. Im talking about normal bottom hoop, snare bed instead of the bridge/frame concept.

The Dynasonic parts would be OK also, Like I say Im a little confused on what works with what. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you!

A Dyna-Sonic edge needs to be put on by someone who is very familiar with this edge profile. 1960s era bed is nominally .004" and that, is extremely slight. I have measured two XP 10 beds and they were both nominally at .02. Deeper than a 60s Dynasonic but still slight. These number differences suggest there is definitely a range for bed depth that will work with the Dynasonic. I dont know what is magic. But I do know overcuting will be disaster.

Thank you for the heads up. I was planning on doing the edge and bed work here in my shop but maybe not. Ever deal with drummaker, would they know what to do?

The drums that you see without the bridge are they Super ten's? Would that be an entirely different edge/bed spec I could do?

Thank you!
