Serial number on the snare is D 106129. Can anyone tell me the year ?

Most likely its a mid 70s snare..
the D tells ya the year, but im not sure...

Picture always helps with ID'ing a drum. Also, need to know what model, whether Dynasonic or PowerTone. Likelihood is it is from the late 70's because D wasn't used until 1975 or so and it would seem at that serial number that you have a Dynasonic. However, you'll have to wait for the Ploughman to weigh in or one of the others with the 70's knowledge.
It could be a snare, or a drum. D prefix series badges were used from 1975-84. Your number, six digit, D prefix, was used 1982-83 more likely 83.
your top hoop would be not as easy to find for an exact replacement. However, any Big R era hoop would do just fine. Your drum is in the last run of the Dyna-Sonic/SuperTen and has a slight detail change over the earlier Big R hoop style. The top bend is flatter on this hoop than the earlier versions. Most people wouldn't even notice this, and most did not.
