I'm not a drummer but I picked up this drum this weekend. Was going to re-purpose it but I think it may be worth something. It's 3.5x14 ....must be chrome over brass....and it has 10 lugs (top & bottom). Can anyone tell me anything about it

Hello gofortheheart...and Welcome to our forum!

What you have is a Taiwanese-built snare drum, most likely from the 90's, that, unfortunately, wears the "Rogers" logo. The sad part is that these drums bear no history, or resemblance, to the fine Rogers drums of the 60's and 70's. Others will surely offer up some more information for you, but these are not collectible drums. I seriously doubt it is a brass shell. Did you test it with a magnet? Magnets won't stick to brass. This is most likely a steel shell.

If you got the drum for cheap, than enjoy it. I'm sure that with good heads and tuning, it can be made to sound good. Enjoy it for what it is!

Hey Mark....the shell appears to be brass. Magnets will not stick to it. One other question. I saw online somewhere that the Taiwanese drums had 12 lugs, not 10. Do you know anything about that? Thanks

I'm not aware of any of these Taiwanese Rogers drums with brass shells, but I guess anything is possible! As to some being 12-lug drums, I've seen them. Personally, 12 lug snares are a real pain to tune. Stick with 8 and 10 lug snare drums.

Brook Mays era... later on. early 2000's

Generic more or less, but a good drum for what it was. If only BM could have survived being eaten by piranhas, crocodiles and alligators.
