I had a friend of mine that had a 1971 Firebird convertible in fantistic shape. He got behind on his bills and decided to sell his Firebird. He piad his bills and before he knew it he was behind on his bills again, and didnt have a firebird to sell. Moral of this story: Dont sell your toys for extra cash because it wont make any difference in the long run! Keep it!!!! Keep on Pl

poppy:

THANKS for sharing your friend's story. However I can assure you that if I do decide to sell my drum it won't be due to any "need" for extra money. It would be due to an excess inventory of "toys" that simply aren't being played.

[QUOTE=Happy Holidays to you and yours![/QUOTE]

I keep buying more drums tellin' my soon to be wife that they are an investment, but I never sell anything. Im gonna have to do something soon, because I am totally runnin' out of room!! It's actually all her fault. about 3 yrs ago I had my 60's Sonor teardrops and my 68 sky blue pearl luddys stacked in a closet. One day she said "Why don't you set those drums up in the living room. I drug em outta the closet and set em up. the Sonors were a 3 piece: 13" tom' 14" snare and a 20' kick. I started searching for the elusive matching floor tom and came accross this forum. I lurked in the background for a while and finally decided to restore my 20" slingy floor tom. I got totally hooked on restoring drums. I started monitoring Craigs list and found several.

I actually did find that matching 16" sonor teardrop floor tom.

GREAT STORY!Clapping Happy2

I had promised my wife of 26 years that I would restrict my collecting to vintage American-made snare drums. Somehow along the way I managed to grab about 10 complete vintage kits in addition to the snares that I've found. I have no idea how this happened but I obviously failed in my original plan.Eye Ball
