Just about to list on ebay...but let's keep it among friends..SORRY for the long explanation...backstory:
Very nice 4402...great mechanical shape for playing, very good cosmetic shape.
Here's the deal: I recently bought a really nice, shiny 4402 that LOOKED great. Because it was so perfect, I didn't play it much, if at all. And I didn't disassemble and inspect. I sold it for a surprising price, but the buyer wasn't entirely satisfied with the mechanics/function. Not a big deal, just not as perfect as he expected for the $. So I refunded half the price. Good karma.. ;>)
This one is not in as perfect cosmetically. You can see that some of the chrome has peeled on the legs. But it still looks really nice, not perfect, but really nice. I replaced the rod so it isn't chewed up. Original clutch. All wing nuts/screws are correct.
BUT here's the difference. This one I DID go through mechanically. Made sure the internal parts were aligned, cleaned and lubed. And, on the cross piece the pedal attaches to to pull the rod down? I place small plastic spacers to keep the pieces in the track and to protect them at the top. Nearly all the Rogers hi hats I've seen have a rubber grommet on the crosse piece, that doesn't go near the tube.
These are amazing hi hats - beautifully designed and manufactured! And the one piece is awesome! Far superior to the Ludwigs, somewhat better than the Slingerland Dynamo (built like a tank!)
Just a few thumbnails here. Interested? PLEASE GO TO THE ALBUM:
