Rogers Tower Kit Last viewed: 3 hours ago

Sorry for the delay in posting pics since joining but thank goodness in this economy I'm working and have been out of town so better late than never! Here's my Rogers Tower Kit all Cleveland era drums with the exception of the 16" floor tom. I rescued these from ebay for $500.00 in unusable condition due to missing a lot of small things: collet noses, floor tom legs, ect. The stuff that really mattered was all there IMO: NO extra holes, the bass drum hoops with inlays were there but in rough condition (But were easy to refinish), all the T-rods were there, chrome was nice, wrap was perfect with no lifting or difference in fading from tom to tom. It was a labor of love and I'm proud to save a set of drums that sounds this good from a lifetime of silence. Also, getting these drums out of a pawn shop ebay store and back to work again just makes you feel good as a drummer and as an individual who has a passion for both history and drums. While its not a museum piece by any means it looks great and sounds amazing. It's a great versatile kit for the session work I've been getting lately when the Starclassics or Yamaha RC just won't work. They really work well for anything I'm doing that requires a vintage vibe but with the right head set-up they can achieve quite a modern sound as well if needed, most likely due to Rogers doing the sharper bearing edges so early on. Although I prefer keeping them equipt with Remo Vintage Emperors on top and Remo Vintage A's on bottom for a nice warm sound I love coated over coated on this kit! I just recently picked up a Luxor snare in matching Blue Sparkle which is my new favorite 6 lugger which says a lot because I love 6 lug snare drums and have a couple great sounding ones. All in all a great set of drums, a good friend of mine has a set of Rogers Holidays in Black Onyx in the same config and about the same era in his studio and we both agree that the Tower series has a more open resonant sound in comparison not better or worse, just different and more appealing to my ears. Most likely due to the center mounted lugs allowing the shells to vibrate more freely, or it just all completely in my head which is probably the case! Well, Soap Box that's enough out of me...ENJOY!!

Welcome back. That is a real nice set of drums, I think Rogers has the best blue sparkle out there!

I have the same set up in black. Dayton 12 and 20. Fullerton Holiday 16. Mine was a wrap stripped basket case when I got it. It came with a 14x16 deep floor tom which has since been sold to cover the cost of everything else. I set these up the other day for pics for a sale I had going. Made the mistake of playing them for a minute. Now I can't sell them and they are going to the gig tonite. Oh. I also have a big R dyna to go with.

I did the same thing with a DW floor tom I had, I was going to put it on craigslist and make a couple bucks since it was an orphan and I really didn't need it. I took it out to take pics then afterwords left it setup with the rest of my Starclassics, the next day there it was so I played on it mixed with the rest of the kit and I was reminded of why I picked this drum up in the first place 3 people called me with good offers before I took it off and said it was sold. Now I'm looking at it as I type this 2 years later..I don't blame you for selling that 14 x 16 floor tom I would do the same I'd rather have a full less desirable kit than 1 floor tom. I have a friend who was on the 14 inch floor tom quest (A Rogers Black onyx!) he ended up spending more on that then 2 of his vintage kits combined and in the end he prefered the sound of his 16 on that particular kit and kept that set up for recording and just horded the 14 floor tom. On the other hand there is something to be said about the thrill of the hunt! Nice set of drums by the way I love the 12-16-20 setup can really be tuned for anything!

I sent you a PM regarding this set. Please respond.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

This is a "Comet" set with an added Holiday floor. You saved about 65 buying it this way vrs one of the other higher priced sets with a floor. Was often the sales person trying to save customer a few bucks but still getting quality drums. That was a weeks pay then. Nice set of blues....

Eagle that doesnt look like a Rogers floor tom..

**** I BUY ROGERS DRUMS *****

Rogersoholic- It is truly a Rogers Floor tom complete with markers, tags and full authentification. The entire kit is a Rogers Tower with a Luxor snare. Probably just the angle that threw you.

The comment regarding the floor tom was in reference to the blue kit. The "Holiday" floor tom was Rogers' more expensive model, featuring lugs at each end of the drum. A "Tower" floor tom would have lugs positioned centrally, accepting a long tension rod from both ends of the drum.
