Anybody know if this blue wrap is still available? These are 1980 or so XP8's. I am in the thought process of what to do with these.

Thanks,

Forgot the color ( Pacific Blue? ) but I remember a bit of pearlesance to it. Maybe Andy at Drummaker.com can source a batch for you. The foil "Big R" badge might be in repro online by now as well...Gotta love concert toms!

You,the accomplished woodworker asking about WRAP? East Russian burled oak,or bubinga quartersawn,or birdseye maple quilt...and is that a 24" bass drum? Interesting set with 2 -12"s and 2 -13"s.Those are VERY good drums,my friend.Worth a bit of special treatment,in my opinion.Burger Kin

Best bet is an automotive paint match. The badges can be had from Al Drew at Drews Music in Woonsocket RI. Numbers will be in the D97xxxx ranges. Color is Metallic Blue.

Tom, I am considering a veneer but my first plan was to go origional. I have been thinking about this one for a while. Its been a long time since I have done a wood finish. And no the bass is a 22".

I have the badges for the drums and they are in good condition. And, I did have some lacquer matched up but I dont like the results. Its been a long time since I have done any automotive finishes but when I looked into that for my Fibes kit I found that to be pretty expensive. The color is like a candy finish, it changes at different angles, really nice color.

Funny you mentioned the serial numbers. The 12" concert tom is RD977730.

The 13" concert tom is D105064. The rest have no numbers on the badge, just the big R and made in USA. Doing a veneer as Tom mentioned would be the easiest for me. What species would be proper for these any idea?

Mike, the drums are,

8x12

9x13

16x16

14x22

The concert toms are, 8x10 and 8x12. Im not too worried about these.

I dont know if you can tell from the pics but the color does have a "pearlesance to it. I can send a sample if needed.

Thanks Mike!

Good to know thanks! That's a really cool color. Too bad the paint didn't work out. I was thinking it might match nicely. With all the Kandy, pearls and metallics out there. Hope Mikey can hook you up with the wrap. Cool1

Glenn.
