I'm curious as to whether anyone here knows if "aftermarket" pads such as Pintech or Hart are able to be used on a Roland drum set without altering programming/parameters etc. I traded an acoustic set for a TD-3 and it had no Hi-Hat pad, and replacements, even used are pricey.

I have a friend with a TD-8. He uses Alesis pads for kick, one of the crash pads, and the hi-hat controller (the Roland parts crapped out). All work perfectly with little parameter tweaking.

Have Pintech cymbal on Roland set. No issues really. Tweak and go.
